Free, environmentally sustainable substrate achiev

The hatchlings are almost 6 months i felt its time for a substrate that allows burrowing. The amount of substrate i need would be very expensive to buy, but i love cardboard based substrates like finacard. Then it hit me. Buy a shredder and just shred the masses of cardboard packaging that is on everything i ever buy! Its the same thing! I check over each piece before i shred it for selotape, sticky stuff, stains, bugs, staples and the like. The best part is i can control the size of the pieces, its surprisingly soft, absorbent, dust free and so easy to clean. I offer them a space that has no card and one sheet of kitchen roll folded over and they can use that if the card bothers them at all (it doesn’t - they love burrowing in it!). In a natural style vivarium it just looks like leaf-litter. Lots of people already use it for corn snakes and love it too
